Research Engineer, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, USA

Stein Housner

Stein is a floating offshore system engineer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Colorado, USA. His primary research focus is centered around mooring system design optimization and modeling for floating offshore energy devices. He initially started at NREL working with mooring systems for floating offshore wind turbines, but has since worked on mooring designs for various types of wave energy converters and other floating devices. His background is in naval architecture and marine engineering, which he applies to his research involving the design and modeling of various floating devices. More specifically, Stein has completed a number of projects that investigate the use of shared mooring systems, in which mooring lines are attached to adjacent floating devices, and is excited to continue this work further
