Laura Zubiate holds a degree in Marine Science from the University of Vigo. Between 2008 and 2010 she worked in environmental aspects of marine renewable energy in Tecnalia, where she participated in the European projects Equimar and Waveplam, among others. In 2012 she completed a MSc in Integrated Coastal Manangement from the University of Cantabria, with a master thesis about marine currents in the Spanish Mediterranean region. In 2017 she finalised her PhD thesis in University College Dublin, entitled “Determining the sensitivity of wind energy resources in Ireland to large-scale atmospheric patterns”. She then obtained a postdoctoral position in the Irish meteorological service, Met Éireann, within the European project Windsurfer. From November 2018 until 2020 she worked as a seasonal forecast meteorologist in Met Éireann. She joined BiMEP in September 2020 as a Metocean and Environmental specialist.
