Budi Gunawan is a principal research engineer at Sandia National Laboratories’ Water Power Technologies with experience in environmental fluid dynamics, hydraulic engineering, and marine and hydrokinetic energy. In the last ten years, Budi has overseen projects on various topics that include hydrodynamic measurements and modeling, materials, infrastructure testing upgrade, structural analysis, and instrumentation and data processing. He has been serving as a subject matter expert representing the US for the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) tasked to develop the IEC Technical Specifications for River Energy Resource Assessment and characterization and Mechanical Load Measurements, and an associate editor of the ASCE Journal of Hydraulic Engineering
