More than 900 delegates and businesses from all around the world are expected to gather at the Kursaal Congress Centre and Auditorium
The Basque Energy Cluster is a non-profit organization which was set up in 1996 with the mission of improving global competitiveness of the Basque energy sector companies by facilitating an industry-driven collaboration along the value chains and seeking public-private partnerships. Our vision is to contribute to the positioning the Basque Country as one of the European references in the energy industry sector in specific energy fields.
The Basque Energy Cluster is made up of more than 180 members, including leading companies in the energy sector located in the Basque Country (energy operators, component and equipment manufacturers), agents of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network and public administration bodies involved in the energy field.
Hosting ICOE-OEE 2022 in Donostia / San Sebastián, Basque Country, the Basque Energy Cluster aims to strengthen networking and collaboration among ocean energy stakeholders from all over the world and highlight -both nationally and internationally- the relevance of the Basque and Spanish industry for the development of the ocean energy sector.
The Basque Energy Cluster promotes the wave energy field through the ‘Wave Energy Basque Country’ brand, which brings together leading Basque companies that have business objectives in this area.
Ocean Energy Europe is the largest network of ocean energy professionals in the world. Over 120 organisations, including Europe’s leading utilities, industrialists and research institutes, trust OEE to represent the interests of Europe’s ocean energy sector.
As a not-for-profit organisation, every euro invested in OEE is used to promote the European ocean energy industry. Ocean Energy Europe’s mission is to create a strong environment for the development of ocean energy, improve access to funding, and enhance business opportunities for its members.
To achieve this, OEE engages with the European Institutions (Commission, Parliament, Council, EIB, etc), and national ministries on policy issues affecting the sector. The results are undeniable: in past four years the sector’s profile has increased significantly, and the EU has emerged as a major driver of the industry.
In the words of the organisers…
José Ignacio Hormaeche
Managing Director of the Basque Energy Cluster:
The next few years will be key for the future success of ocean energy. International collaboration is more relevant than ever, and we want the joint event between ICOE and OEE to be a catalyser for the sector. It is time to meet again… and what a better place than the beautiful city of Donostia / San Sebastian.
CEO of Ocean Energy Europe:
We are excited to co-organise this one-of-a-kind event together with the Basque Energy Cluster, merging two already well-regarded events. With revenue support in the UK and France looking at new pilot farms, it will be a perfect moment for the whole sector to come together and drive ocean energy forward.
Yann-Hervé De Roeck
Chairman of the IEA/OES:
Our group of international experts on ocean energy (23 member countries plus the European Commission) collaborates to accelerate the viability, uptake and acceptance of ocean energy systems in an environmentally acceptable manner. By associating our biannual international conference ICOE with OEE event, the resulting synergy is fully in line with our objectives.
